Baseball Returns to Fayetteville

Construction of Segra Stadium, the home of Houston Astros Low-A affiliate the Woodpeckers, marked the beginning of a new era for Fayetteville. While professional baseball isn’t new to the Can Do City, the Woodpeckers’ debut at Segra Stadium in 2019 marks the first Minor League team to play in Fayetteville since the Cape Fear Crocs departed following the 2000 season. Although Segra Stadium was built for baseball, it’s made a name for itself as the “go-to” spot for several annual Fayetteville events including the Eastern NC Walk to End Alzheimer’s, Pecktoberfest (annual beer festival featuring local crafts) and the newest addition, Fayetteville Holiday Lights.
